This mech made history.
The first mech ever to be made that wasn’t commissioned. The Chinook M-7. Aptly named because parts of the armor and weaponry were taken from a crashed military helicopter, this mech was constructed in a small-town garage by a local mechanic. Initially started as more of an “is this possible” project, it eventually gained momentum and funding when interested people found out they could make money from mech battles. Parts were scrounged from wherever they could be found. The Chinook M-7 was something no one believed possible; without millions of dollars and state of the art weaponry, who could stand a chance? However, by utilizing old fashioned technology in the joints, a functional mech was built; Blades attached to the hands with full spinning capabilities, heating plates throughout the body for extra damage without softening the metal, panels that rise above the back capable of making an electrical charge, thermal vision, and hands fully capable of gripping guns (a feature not all major mechs have). This mech is one of the smaller models, but packs as almost as much punch as many larger mechs. The Chinook M-7 also boasts a detachable handheld weapon that functions as an emp; while unable to stun larger mechs, this device will stop power to all electrically powered weapons. Thrown together with scraps, this mech has proved that civilians are capable of constructing mechs and that old fashioned weaponry can contend with modern weaponry. Piloted by the first mechanic to strip materials off of old cars, he must have twice the skill of any other pilot; this mech must be piloted by sheer eyesight alone as the Chinook M-7 has no automated targeting.
